INSTITUTE DIRECTIONS
•    Development of coatings with high strength, corrosion and wear resistance.
•    Development of new materials with high sorption for alternative and hydrogen energy applications 
•    Development of nanostructured and functional thin-film coatings for power engineering and electronics.
•    Development of coatings to improve functional and operational characteristics of semiconductor materials.
MAIN TASKS OF THE INSTITUTE
•    Conducting scientific research: Performing fundamental and applied research in the fields of materials science, computer science, mathematics and biology.
•    Development of the material and technical base: Modernisation of research infrastructure, introduction of new laboratory equipment and technologies.
•    Training of scientific personnel: Training of young scientists, researchers, masters and doctoral students with supervision of their research.
•    Creation of quality and competitive products: Application of technologies for obtaining coatings and surface modification of materials.
•    Publication of research results: Placement of scientific papers in publications indexed in international databases such as Thomson Reuters, Web of Science, Scopus and others.
