History and General information
By the decision considered at the 1st meeting of the University Senate on August 29, 2016, and adopted at the 53rd meeting of the Authorized Body on November 12, 2016, the Faculty of Dentistry was opened in the 2017-2018 academic year, and the Department of Therapeutic and Orthopedic Dentistry was created within it.
The department provides theoretical knowledge on fundamental and clinical subjects necessary for the training of future dentists. At the department, in specially equipped phantom rooms and clinical bases for students studying in educational programs 6B10156-Dentistry, 6B10189-Dentistry, the following subjects are taught: Morphology and physiology of teeth, Fundamentals of therapeutic dentistry, Fundamentals of orthopedic dentistry, Structure of materials in dentistry, Restorative dental treatment, Removable prosthetics, Fixed prosthetics, Basics of periodontology, Caries and non-carious dental diseases, Hard dental tissues, Periodontology and diseases of the oral mucosa, Fundamentals of clinical endodontics, Fundamentals of clinical orthopedic dentistry, Modern technologies in endodontics, Fundamentals of clinical periodontology, Deontology, and ethics.
Currently, the department employs 15 teachers in 13.5 staff units, including 2 candidates of sciences, 2 masters of sciences, senior teachers, and lecturers. From 2023, the department will be headed by Associate Professor E.Zh. Tuleshova, succeeding Candidate of Medical Sciences M.A. Iskendirov, who led the department from 2016 to 2022.
