International Relations Department
International Relations Department was established in 1998. The main objective of the International Relations Department is to explain the events happening in the international arena and to improve the foresight ability of the future based on theory and practice. In the International Relations section, students will have a comprehensive knowledge of international organizations, diplomatic relations, international law, and world economy. Foreign (UK, Turkey, USA) and native lecturers teach at the department. Courses are taught in Kazakh, Turkish, Russian and English. Free courses as English Club are organized by the university to ensure that the courses are given in English effectively. Also, students are sent to Turkey for internship. International Relations Department students received the certificates of the UN official representatives in Kazakhstan, organizing the international “UN model” conference in the 2016-2017 school year.
Number of total faculty members who work according to the specific unit curriculum for each course in the department – 13. There are 2 professors, 3 PhDs, 1 associate professor, 3 science doctors, 1 senior lecturer and 3 masters. Compulsory courses are given by experienced and qualified lecturers and lecturers from Turkey. Elective courses are prepared in accordance with modern international relations requirements. However, compulsory courses are selected taking into account the opinions and recommendations of the employers. Compulsory and elective courses are taken into consideration at the consultation meeting of the Department and importance is given to the quality and preparation of visa questions, examinations, examination tickets, test questions and assignments.
Percentage of scientific potential of the department – 75%. Students of the International Relations Department are awarded prizes by participating in “International scientific and applied” conferences in Turkey. However, between the years of 2012-2016, 15 students are continuing their masters and doctoral studies in the leading universities in Turkey. The students of the International Relations Department organized the “United Nations Model” conference in Turkestan for the first time in 2016 and received the certificates of the United Nations official representatives in Kazakhstan.
International Relations Department students are carrying out various activities within the framework of “Help and Solidarity”, “Cinema”, “International Relations” and “English Club” clubs. Meetings, conferences, seminars and conferences are organized with the participation of domestic and international guests, diplomats, ministers and distinguished individuals at various levels.
