Strategic Goals for 2024–2029
Clinical Direction
Establishment of a Center for Molecular Diagnostics and Genomic Research comprising six specialized laboratories focused on personalized medicine and epidemiological monitoring.
Development of a Center for Advanced Instrumental Diagnostics based at the university clinic, including medical imaging, early disease detection, and the implementation of artificial intelligence–based algorithms.
Strengthening cooperation with regional healthcare institutions and employers through internships, joint programs, and volunteer initiatives.
Research Direction
Formation of a research ecosystem aligned with priority areas, including molecular diagnostics, Big Data, biotechnology, green technologies, and ecology.
Increase in publications in Q1/Q2 journals, registration of patents, and launch of start-ups (with a target of at least three by 2026).
Attraction of external funding through consortia with Nazarbayev University, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, and industrial partners, including grants, investments, and commercialization of research outcomes.
Educational Direction
- Integration of laboratory research and digital technologies (Big Data, artificial intelligence, Internet of Things) into academic curricula.
- Training of PhD graduates and development of academic mobility through interdisciplinary and distance learning formats.
- Professional development of academic staff and implementation of practice-oriented teaching methods to ensure a sustainable academic workforce.
Export of Knowledge and Services
The export of knowledge and services is one of the priority areas of activity of the Yassawi Academic and Research Excellence Center. Within this direction, the University is establishing a regional center of competencies focused on providing diagnostic and consulting services to the countries of Central Asia, as well as on the transfer of expert knowledge and scientific developments.
The promotion of educational programs and scientific services in international markets is aimed at expanding the University’s external presence and diversifying its sources of funding. By 2029, the share of exports of educational, scientific, and expert services is planned to reach at least 10% of the University’s total revenue, contributing to the strengthening of its sustainability and international competitiveness.
Institutional Development and the Yassawi Academic and Research Excellence Center
The Yassawi Academic and Research Excellence Center is regarded as a key element of the institutional development of Ahmed Yasawi University. Its activities are aimed at improving the management system of innovation centers, enhancing coherence among scientific, educational, and clinical units, and integrating the Center into the University’s Development Strategy for 2024–2029.
The operation of the Yassawi Academic and Research Excellence Center contributes to the strengthening of corporate governance, increasing the transparency of management processes, and forming a unified ecosystem of academic and research development. Through the implementation of projects within the Center, the University strengthens its position and reputation in the international QS and THE rankings, building a sustainable image of a modern research university at both regional and international levels.
Strengthening Partnerships and Export Potential
The development of partnership relations is one of the key areas of activity of the Yassawi Academic and Research Excellence Center. Within the framework of the Center’s work, the University establishes sustainable forms of cooperation with leading universities, clinics, and industrial partners on the basis of signed memoranda and joint projects.
The expansion of international and regional cooperation contributes to the growth of exports of educational, scientific, and expert services, the share of which is planned to reach at least 10% of the University’s total revenue by 2029. The implementation of this direction creates the necessary conditions for the sustainable positioning of Ahmed Yasawi University as one of the leaders in the Turkic world and Central Asia in the fields of education, science, and innovation.
