History and general information
Department of «Ecology and Chemistry» was reorganized as a result of the merger of the Departments of «General Chemistry and Chemical Ecology» and «Industrial Ecology» on the basis of Senate Council decision in accordance with Protocol No5 in 2007.
The goal of the Department is quality education and conscious upbringing in accordance with modern requirements of higher education at international level education, training of qualified professionals who can contribute to the development of a sovereign country.
Currently, the indicator of scientific potential of the Department is 80%, including doctors of science – 6,6%, PhD – 13,3%, candidates of science – 60%. The department employs teachers who were awarded the title of «The best teacher of the university»: с.ch.s., associate professor Altynbekova M.O. (2009), c.tech.s., professor Meirbekov A.T. (2009, 2019), d.tech.s., professor Akbasova A. Zh. (2012), с.ch.s., professor Nurdillayeva R.N. (2013), c.tech.s., professor of IKTU Zhylysvaeva G.H. (2016), с.ch.s., associate professor Mamırbekova A.K. (2019). Also the head of the department “Ecology and chemistry”, с.ch.s., professor Nurdillayeva R.N. has been awarded the «Bolashak» scholarship of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and has been trained at Newcastle University (UK) in 2017 with a degree in «Chemistry». Also in the 2023-2024 academic year, as part of the Bolashak International Scholarship, the United States, Laurens is undergoing an internship at Berkeley National Laboratory.
The total number of full-time teaching staff employed in the block of individual disciplines of the curriculum of the specialty is 26, including 2 Doctor of Sciences, Professors, 3 Cand. Sc., Prof., 6 Cand. Sc., Associate Prof., 6 Cand. Sc., Assistant Prof., 5 PhD, 4 masters of sciences, as well as expert practitioners.
The department graduates specialists in 5 areas of undergraduate educational programs and 3 areas of masters. According to the results of the rating carried out in 2019 by the IAAR, the educational program 6В01514-Geography took 2nd, and the educational program 6В01512-Chemistry took 3rd prize places.
The qualified and experienced teaching staff of the department conducts lectures, laboratory and practical classes on educational programs 6В01512-Chemistry, 6В01562-Chemistry-Biology, 6В05247-Ecology, 6В01514-Geography, 7М01535- Chemistry,7M05324- Chemistry,7М05223-Ecology.
Students study in educational and research laboratories, lecture rooms equipped with the necessary equipment for chemical and environmental disciplines in accordance with the state compulsory education standards of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
