Department of Theology

Educational Goals

Training of qualified theologians who possess deep Islamic knowledge in the field of theology, who are able to use theological knowledge in solving problems in the field of state-confessional relations, who successfully implement social and communicative skills and research activities.

TRAINING

In the 2026–2027 academic year, the total number of academic staff positions assigned to teach individual courses within the educational programmes, under signed employment contracts, is 17. The academic staff comprises 4 professors, 2 associate professors, 5 senior lecturers holding PhD degrees, and 6 lecturers holding master's degrees.

The Department of Theology provides specialist training through the following educational programmes: 6B02229 — Theology, 6B02266 — Islamic Studies, and 7M02262 — Theology (Master’s degree programme).

EDUCATIONAL WORK

The professors of the "Theology" department continue to campaign among students in order to fight against religious extremism and terrorism, negative religious currents. During the academic year, students are placed in dormitories, fully familiarized with the rules inside the dormitories, correctly apply the rules of cleanliness inside, observe the norms of silence, observe the rules of order around the dormitories, and contribute to social and cultural events.
At the same time, the club "Yasaui Youth" works within the framework of the department. The goal of the club is to encourage young people from all over the Turkic world who are studying under one roof to the path of education, instilled in brotherhood, unity, peace in the country, to increase the unity, solidarity and brotherhood of the Kazakh people and representatives of other nationalities living in Kazakhstan. participation, organization of scientific public events for the purpose of raising the professional level of young people, insuring young people from foreign cultures and religious concepts, etc., attracting students to various circles

SCİENCE

In addition to participating in international and republican scientific conferences, the teaching staff of the department is increasing its share in domestic publications recommended by the Education and Science Control Committee of the Ministry of Education and Science with publications in rated scientific journals (Scopus, Elsevier, Clarivate Analytic, WoS). The teaching staff of the department is active in social networks (Facebook, VKontakte, Instagram) to increase the image of the university and the team. Senior teacher of the department, PhD Zh. Nurmatov won the state project in 2023.
