“When archives are open — history speaks truth!”
According to the 2025–2026 academic plan of the Faculty of Education and Humanities, today, on December 5, a debate titled “Open Archives for an Open Society” was held in the Coworking Hall of our University Library. The event was organized within the framework of the course “Archival Studies” for 4th-year students, led by PhD, senior lecturer Raigul Khazretalikyzy from the Department of History.
During the debate, participants discussed the role of archives in building an open society, the accessibility of historical data, and the right of researchers and citizens to access information. Teams defended their positions using scientific evidence and logical arguments.
The event was attended by faculty members of the Department of History, students of the faculty, as well as guests from Chirchik State Pedagogical University of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The panel of judges included:
• Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor Tursun Khazretali Makhanuly;
• PhD, senior lecturer Aliya Ospanova;
• Doctoral student Akmarzhan Aghaidarova.
A thematic video was presented during the event, and students performed specially prepared musical numbers. As a result of the discussion, it was emphasized that open archives are a key mechanism for historical fairness, civic trust, and scientific development.
At the end of the event, active participants of the debate were awarded.
