Round Table on “Artificial Intelligence in Medical Practice: Assistant or Competitor?”

On September 23, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., a round-table discussion entitled “Artificial Intelligence in Medical Practice: Assistant or Competitor?” was held in Room 110 of the main building of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, located on Baitursynov Street. The event was organised for residents enrolled in the 7R01114 Radiology Educational Programme.

The event was organised and moderated by Kuanysh Tagayevich Kulayev, Candidate of Medical Sciences.

During the round-table discussion, the participants explored current opportunities for applying artificial intelligence technologies in medicine and radiology, their role in the diagnostic process, and their influence on physicians’ professional practice. They also exchanged views on the important question of whether artificial intelligence should be regarded as an assistant to physicians or as a potential competitor in the future.

The residents actively participated in the discussion and shared their perspectives on the benefits, opportunities, and potential risks associated with the use of artificial intelligence in medical practice.

The event aimed to broaden the residents’ knowledge of modern digital technologies, provide guidance on the effective and responsible use of artificial intelligence tools in professional practice, and develop their critical-thinking skills.

The round-table discussion concluded with a meaningful exchange of views. The participants reached a common understanding that artificial intelligence in medicine should not replace physicians but should serve as an important supportive tool that enhances and expands their professional capabilities.
