Internal diseases

Founded in 1992 as the Department of Clinical Disciplines, it was later renamed the Department of Therapy. In the 2013–2014 academic year, by decision of the Senate, it was renamed the Department of Propaedeutics and Internal Medicine to align with the titles of the courses taught. Starting from the 2024–2025 academic year, following the consolidation of departments within the Faculty of Medicine, it has been designated as the Department of Internal Medicine.

The primary objective of the department is to train highly qualified, competitive professionals in the field of medicine, as well as to deepen and advance students' theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in therapeutic disciplines and foundational clinical skills. 

Its mission and strategic goal are to train highly qualified specialists who are competitive, well-rounded, and capable of conducting scientific research; possess advanced clinical reasoning, deep knowledge, and established professional skills.

Objectives:

to train highly qualified, competitive specialists in the medical field;
to deepen and develop theoretical knowledge and practical skills regarding the fundamentals of clinical practice and disciplines within the field of internal medicine.

The Department of Internal Medicine is headed by Sarviniso Islamovna Ibragimova, a lecturer holding a Master's degree. In the 2026–2027 academic year, the department’s academic staff consists of 20 members, including 3 Doctors of Science, 6 Candidates of Science, 3 senior lecturers with Master's degrees, 1 lecturer with a Master's degree, 5 senior lecturers, and 2 lecturers.

The academic staff of the Department of Internal Medicine guides students in developing clinical reasoning, mastering the professional competencies and skills required for their future medical careers, and fostering an interest in medical research. The department conducts classes in clinical disciplines in accordance with the curricula of the educational programs. The Department of Internal Medicine provides instruction to 4th-year students in internal medicine, cardiology, pulmonology and phthisiology, endocrinology, infectious diseases, and pediatrics; it also provides 2nd- and 3rd-year students with training in medical pharmacology, an introduction to medical practice, internal medicine, and practical skills and in-depth clinical knowledge regarding child health and diseases.

Academic classes are conducted at the Department of Internal Medicine for 383 students (across the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years) enrolled in the 6B10188 "Medicine" educational program.
