Development and Professional Achievements of the Simulation Center

The Simulation Center of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University has been systematically working to improve the practical component of medical education, develop simulation-based educational technologies, and enhance the clinical skills of learners.

Modernization of the Material and Technical Base

Since September 2024, extensive work has been carried out to modernize the Simulation Center’s material and technical base and improve the educational process.

The infrastructure of training classrooms and simulation stations has been upgraded, with new furniture, computer equipment, all-in-one computers, televisions, LED screens, video cameras, microphones, and headphones installed.

Virtual examination rooms for learners and instructors have been improved, and air conditioners have been installed to enhance the comfort of the learning environment.

In addition, work is ongoing to equip the Center with modern simulators, manikins, models, phantoms, medical equipment, instruments, and medical consumables.

International and National Experience Sharing

In order to study best practices in simulation-based education and develop the Center’s activities in accordance with international standards, experience-sharing activities have been carried out with leading medical education institutions in Türkiye, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan.

Experience-sharing activities were conducted at the following simulation centers:

Acıbadem University — Istanbul;

Ankara University — Ankara;

Lokman Hekim University — Ankara;

Tashkent State Medical University — Tashkent;

Astana Medical University — Astana;

Karaganda Medical University — Karaganda.

The experience gained is being utilized in the development of the Simulation Center’s educational infrastructure, simulation stations, and educational process.

Participation in a Grant-Funded Research Project

During 2023–2025, Center Director E.N. Tulezhanov served as a project executor in the grant-funded research project AR19678584, “Determination of the Spectrum and Percentage Distribution of Metabolites Characteristic of Urolithiasis for the Purpose of Early Diagnosis.”

The project was implemented at Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, and the scheduled plans for the respective years were fully completed.

Scientific Publications

The research activities of E.N. Tulezhanov, Director of the Simulation Center, have been published in international and national scientific journals.

In addition, scientific publications are being prepared in co-authorship with learners at the 2.3.1 3rd quartile (percentile 49–25%) level, with ongoing work aimed at disseminating research findings within the scientific community.

Participation in International Scientific and Practical Events

On April 16–17, 2026, in Karaganda, participation was made in the International Scientific and Practical Congress “Multidisciplinary Approaches in Medicine: Integration of Clinical Practice, Science and Education” and the 1st Congress of the Eurasian Society for Simulation in Medicine.

During the event, a presentation was delivered on the topic “The Impact of Simulation-Based Training on the Academic Performance of Medical Learners,” and special certificates were awarded to the event participants.

Professional Education and Masterclasses

In 2026, organizational and participation activities were carried out in 24-hour masterclasses aimed at improving practical knowledge and professional competencies in the fields of surgery and pediatric surgery.

“Opportunities and Prospects of Minimally Invasive Surgery”;

“Opportunities and Prospects of Minimally Invasive Pediatric Traumatology”.

Clinical and Practical Activities

In 2026, participation was made in pathological-anatomical conferences held at the Kentau City Central Hospital. Review and assessment work was carried out to evaluate the consistency of clinical and pathological-anatomical diagnoses, as well as the compliance of the medical care provided with the requirements of clinical protocols.

A New Stage of the Center’s Development

With the support of the University administration, work continues on the expansion and modernization of the Simulation Center at the inpatient level, as well as on bringing its material and technical base into compliance with international requirements.

The development concept provides for the introduction of modern simulation technologies, the creation of a learning environment that closely resembles real clinical conditions, strengthening the practical training of learners, and developing continuing professional education programs aimed at improving the qualifications of doctors and nurses.
