History of the simulation center

HISTORY OF SIMULATION CENTERS

The idea of simulation training was first applied in the aviation sector to train pilots. Medical simulation began to develop in the mid-20th century.

1960s-1970s – emergence of medical mannequins and simulators

In the 1960s, the first medical mannequins and simulators were created and started being used in medical education. For example, the METI Human Patient Simulator (HPS) robot, capable of simulating breathing, urination, brain injury, and other conditions. These robots allow medical professionals to prepare for real-life situations.

From the 2000s – establishment of medical simulation centers

From the 2000s, many medical schools and clinical centers established specialized simulation centers. For example, the Medical Simulation Center at Loma Linda University uses modern mannequins and equipment, allowing students and doctors to gain experience in realistic scenarios.
