Introduction

In 1991, when the international Kazakh-Turkish university named after Khoja Ahmed Yassawi (hereinafter-the University) was opened, the Faculty of Medicine was founded in Turkestan and Kentau, under the leadership of the first dean, Professor E. Bekmuratov, and students began to study.

Since the 5th year of 1995, students of the Faculty of Medicine on the basis of the medical and sanitary Association "phosphorus" in Shymkent 
he began to continue his education. 

On May 19, 1996, by the decision of the 5th meeting of the Intergovernmental Plenipotentiary Council of the University, a proposal was adopted to create the "Institute of social and Natural Sciences" in Shymkent

From 1997 to 2003, he served as dean of the Faculty of Medicine, director of the clinic of the medical and sanitary Association "phosphorus" Professor I. O. Baidaulet.

On January 10, 2003, by the decision of the 18th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Plenipotentiary Council of the University of the Republic of Kazakhstan-Turkey, the Shymkent branch was renamed the "Shymkent branch" of the International Kazakh-Turkish university named after A. Yasawi.

On July 25, 2003, by the decision of the 20th Meeting of the Board of the Intergovernmental Plenipotentiary Council of the University, the Shymkent branch was transformed into an institute.

From 2003 to 2008, the dean of the Faculty of Medicine was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor N. K. Tuzelbayev.

From 2008 to 2009, the dean of the Faculty of Medicine was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor A. Z. Satkhanbayev.

In order to implement the resolution of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated 08.07.2009 No. 1037 "on some issues of the Republican state-owned enterprise "South Kazakhstan State Medical Academy" of the Ministry of health of the Republic of Kazakhstan" on August 28, 2009 by the decision of the Mazhilis of the Senate No. 7, the educational and clinical base of the university was opened.
 

On September 12, 2014, in accordance with the decision of the Mazhilis of the Senate 3.7, since the 2014-2015 academic year, the educational and clinical base of the university was renamed the Shymkent Medical Institute.

From 2009 to 2017, the director of the educational and clinical base was Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor R. S. Bekturganov.

From 2017 to 2018, the director of the Shymkent Medical Institute was Doctor of medical sciences, professor U. A. Zhumabayev.

In accordance with the Protocol No. 9 of the extraordinary Senate meeting of June 22, 2021, from September 01, 2021, the Shymkent Medical Institute was renamed the campus of the District.

From 2021 to 2022, the director of the Shymkent campus was N. S. Dzhanabayev, PhD.

Since 2022, the director of the Shymkent campus has been T. Anuarbek RHD.
