THE UNIVERSITY RECTOR PRESENTED A REPORT TO THE PUBLIC
The event was attended by distinguished citizens of the Turkistan region, representatives of the regional and city administrations, community activists, members of the regional council of elders, media representatives, university faculty, and students.
In her opening speech, Rector Janar Temirbekova said:
"Dear veterans, honorable mothers, university staff, and dear students! We did not choose today, October 1st, by chance for this meeting. Today, we have two wonderful celebrations. We wanted to meet with you on both holidays, report on our activities, and share our future plans. Today is the International Day of Older Persons, and we express our gratitude to all our veteran teachers, elders, and mothers who have contributed to the development of the city!
The second important celebration is the Day of Higher Education Workers! The future of any country is closely linked to the development of higher education, the level of scientific and innovative research. Congratulations to all my esteemed colleagues on our professional holiday!"
Rector Janar Temirbekova began her report by presenting the revised mission and strategic goals of the university. She also provided transparent information about the significant initiatives undertaken in academic, scientific, medical, social, economic, and other areas during the past academic year.
In the 2023-2024 academic year, the university won 993 educational grants. This marks a 34% increase compared to the 2022-2023 academic year.
Several new centers and laboratories were launched at the university, including: the "Fruit and Berry Processing Industrial Workshop," "Turkistan EdTech Lab" Coursera center, "Nanotechnology and New Materials for Energy" scientific laboratory, Microbiology and Biotechnology laboratory, Innovative Methods for Teaching Biology in Schools laboratory, Microbiology and Virology laboratory, Interactive Video Studio, and others.
It is noteworthy that nearly 150 scientific events were organized during the year, including about 18 international conferences and congresses. The number of approved grant projects by university scientists also increased.
As part of the university scientists' grant projects, the "STEM and Creativity" learning laboratory produced a telescope using 3D printers and other equipment.
The university’s library collection expanded as well. In the 2023-2024 academic year, textbooks and e-books worth 15,068,518 tenge were purchased. The total book collection now consists of 517,138 items.
In the past academic year, 7 faculty members were named "Best Teacher of the Republic of Kazakhstan." Additionally, 10 faculty members received the "Bolashak" international scholarship. Nine of the university's scientific projects received grant funding.
The university's clinical diagnostic center became a key regional clinic in the city of Turkistan, providing 24/7 care for stroke patients and becoming an important clinic in neurology and interventional neurosurgery.
This year, our university ranked 816th in the QS World University Rankings 2024, one of the world’s most influential university rankings.
Moreover, according to the Asia University Rankings, which evaluates universities based on various criteria related to education and science, the university ranked 203rd in Asia and 7th in Central Asia.
One significant area to highlight is the university's operations. During the past academic year, the university’s buildings and dormitories were renovated, and other necessary operational works were carried out. For example, with the support of the university and sponsors, new lecture halls were opened in memory of former rectors and prominent professors Lesbek Tashimov and Serik Praliev. The Filology Faculty's auditorium and the stage hall named after the People's Artist of Kazakhstan, Professor Rayymbek Seitmetov, were also renovated. In addition, new auditoriums named after the People's Artist of Kazakhstan, Professor Kazybek Bekbosynov, and the People's Artist of Kazakhstan, Professor Rakhima Zhubaturova, were inaugurated. The sports hall of building number 6 was also modernized and renovated. These operational works do not stop here.
The university, which brings together the youth of the Turkic world, has achieved many successes in the 2023-2024 academic year. The rector’s report was acknowledged by the attendees.
At the end of the event, the chairman of the regional council of elders, Zharilkhasyn Aziretbergenov, and other esteemed elders offered their blessings for the continued success and prosperity of the university.
