The medical faculty of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University was opened in Kentau in 1991 and consisted of two departments.60 students were admitted to the faculty that year. The faculty was in Kentau till 2006 and the same year it was transferred to Turkistan. Nowadays 1726 students study at the faculty on two specialties. The teaching staff makes 146 people, among them 5 Doctors of Science and Professors, 40 Candidates of Science and 5 PhD.
