Scientific Field

The Institute includes in its field of research the study of the culture, history, language and literature of the Turkic peoples, as well as the formation of Turkic art, its stages of development and the relations between these elements. In this context, the institute has a number of responsibilities:

  • to compile, genealogise and promote the culture, literature, history and ethnography, language, religion and folklore of the Turkic peoples; to analyse these data in accordance with the requirements of the period; to comprehensively study the existential, spiritual and all other values of the Turkic peoples;
  • To organise an International Turkology Congress every two years in order to shed light on the current problems of Turkology by bringing together Turkologists from all over the world;
  • To publish the Journal of Turkology without interruption and to make the journal a journal with a high impact factor;
  • To participate in international, national and regional scientific-theoretical and scientific-practical conferences and to present the results of the researches conducted by the institute;
  • To create a certain space for scientific discussions on topical areas of Turkology; to organise seminars, decision-making, proposals and adjust the integration of scientific activities in order to solve the problem of integration of research areas between the Research Institute of Turkology and the departments of social sciences;
  • To establish contacts with international research institutes, to collect manuscripts and materials related to the field of Turkology in the centre, to work on ancient texts in Arabic-Persian and Kazakh languages in the archive of the institute; to prepare scientific introductions of Chagatai, Arabic and Persian manuscripts and rare works and to make them the subject of research;
  • To provide financial and technical support to the scientific research and studies of the Institute; to finance business trips and field research.
