From 26 to 28 September, an on-site monitoring visit in the field of medical education was conducted at Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University. The monitoring visit was attended by Ulmira Auezhanqyzy Nuralieva, Deputy Director of the Department of Science and Human Resources of the Ministry of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The monitoring covered all levels of medical education, as well as issues related to student admission and the organization of the educational process.

On 28 September, visits were organized to the clinical training bases where interns and residents undergo their clinical training. At the Faculty of Postgraduate Medical Education, a five-level system of professional autonomy based on EPAs has been introduced to improve clinical training, and clinical mentors have received specialized training on its application.

In addition, checklists have been developed at the Faculty to assess students’ clinical skills. Using these tools, clinical mentors assess the level at which a student performs the relevant skills and, based on the results, determine the student’s progression from one level to the next. This approach is aimed at the systematic development of the clinical competencies of interns and residents and the gradual enhancement of their professional autonomy.
