Prof. Dr. Peyami Battal

 

Prof. Dr. Peyami Battal was born in 1965 in Orucbeyli village of Bayburt district. He received his primary education in Bayburt and completed his secondary education in Erzurum. In 1988, he graduated from the Biology Department of the Faculty of Science and Literature of Ataturk University.

He started his career in 1990 as a researcher at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Literature, Yüzüncü Yil University. He received his Master’s degree in Botany (in Plant Anatomy) in 1993 and his PhD (in Plant Physiology) in 1997.

In 1997, he was appointed Acting Associate Professor in the Department of Biology at Yüzüncü Yil University. In 2004, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor in Plant Physiology. In the same year he was appointed as an associate professor of the Department of Biology.

At different times he worked as an associate professor in the Department of Biology, a member of the council of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Literature of Yüzüncü Yil University and a member of the administrative council of the faculty.

In 2009 he was awarded the title of professor in the Department of Biology, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Literature, Yüzüncü Yıl University.

He was appointed advisor to the rector in 2006, deputy secretary general of the university in 2007, and vice rector in 2009. – In 2006, he was appointed advisor to the rector in 2007 and deputy secretary general of the university in 2009.

He served as Dean of the Education Faculty from 2010 to 2011.

He was appointed Rector in 2011 and served for two terms until 2019. After the end of his rectorial term in 2019, he joined the faculty of Ghazi University’s Graduate School of Health Sciences. Continuing his work, he was appointed as First Vice-Rector of the Khoja Akhmed Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University in 2022.

Many of his articles have been published in scientific journals at home and abroad, and his scientific research has also been presented at many scientific conferences at home and abroad.

He received his second degree in Public Administration in 2007 at the Faculty of Economics of Anadolu University.

He is fluent in English. He is married with 3 children.
