“THE 2ND INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF YOUNG SCIENTISTS WAS HELD”

A delegation from our University took part in the Second International Congress of Young Scientists of Kazakhstan. The event was organized by the National Academy of Sciences under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and was dedicated to UNESCO’s theme “Trust, Change, and the Future: Science needed for 2050.”

The plenary forum was held at the “Gylym Ordasy,” while sectional meetings and master classes took place at five leading higher education institutions in the city. The Congress brought together more than 1,000 young researchers, over 80 foreign scientists from 26 countries, as well as academicians and heads of scientific organizations.

Among the participants were scholars from our University, including Deputy Chair of the Council of Young Scientists Shakhzoda Tursunkhodzhayeva; Head of the Department of Physical Education and Basic Military Training, PhD, Associate Professor Baglan Yermakhanov; and PhD senior lecturers of the Department of International Relations, Senel Guleсe and Rustu Kaya. The delegation of young scientists from our University was led by the Rector, Zhanar Temirbekova.

The participants of the Congress received a congratulatory message from State Counselor Erlan Karin, who emphasized that science is a key priority of state policy. He noted that, on the instructions of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, support measures for young scientists are being expanded, including increased funding, internship programs, and enhanced social support. He also highlighted that nearly half of the country’s researchers are under the age of 40 and that the Congress has become an important platform for the development of youth science.

During the plenary session, foreign and domestic scientists shared their views on the future of science and the role of young people in global transformations. Kazakhstani scholars emphasized the importance of strengthening scientific infrastructure, developing research schools, expanding access to equipment, and attracting and repatriating the scientific diaspora.

The Congress sections covered key areas of modern science, including natural sciences, space research, artificial intelligence, agro-bioresources, biomedicine, ecology, education, and social development. In addition, master classes, workshops, consultations on grants and publications, and an exhibition of innovative projects by young scientists were held.

Following the Congress, young scientists expressed their support for the President’s strategic direction on the development of science and emphasized the importance of implementing the “Youth in Science” concept. They also proposed using the scientific and technological policy framework developed by the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan as the basis for research funding competitions, improving the PhD training system, expanding access to research equipment, and promoting interdisciplinary studies.
