“WINTER SCHOOL: A DAY OF SOCIO-CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT WAS HELD”

Today, as part of the Winter School project, a Day of Socio-Cultural Development was held at our university.

During the meeting, the university’s Development Program for 2024–2029, as well as national and contemporary concepts of youth education, were extensively discussed.

The meeting was moderated by the Vice-Rector for Socio-Cultural Development, Yedil Tolegenov, who stated: “Today, we are addressing issues that fall directly within our area of responsibility—namely, the upbringing and discipline of our students. We often ask ourselves whether there are threats to students’ moral development. At this point, we must acknowledge that today’s youth face significant risks from the external environment.

Ludomania, suicide, bullying, and various disciplinary violations are not merely statistics; they are serious challenges facing our society. Therefore, our Development Program must clearly identify these risks and outline effective preventive measures. Our mission goes beyond providing education—we must also address issues that are vital to our students’ well-being.”

During the event, Yedil Tolegenov presented the strategic directions of the university’s development and emphasized the importance of fostering a strong socio-cultural environment. He highlighted multilingual education, the unification of youth from Turkic-speaking countries within a shared academic space, and the encouragement of talented students toward scientific and creative pursuits as key strengths of the university. He also noted that the development of the volunteer movement, the implementation of social projects, and the revitalization of youth policy represent significant institutional opportunities.

Infrastructure issues were also addressed. Specific plans were presented to ensure full dormitory accommodation for students. Achieving 100% dormitory coverage by 2029 and attaining financial independence through the development of the Endowment Fund were identified as priority goals.

The speaker emphasized that academic excellence is not limited solely to educational quality, but is achieved through the development of students’ leadership skills, creativity, physical well-being, and civic engagement. He proposed several new initiatives, including expanding the number of creative clubs, increasing student participation in sports activities, and further strengthening the volunteer movement.

This meeting, held as part of the Day of Socio-Cultural Development, provided faculty members and university staff with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the institution’s strategic priorities, implement their professional initiatives, and actively contribute to supporting students’ personal development.
