“THE IV YASSAWI WINTER SCHOOL HAS STARTED”

Today, in accordance with our long-standing tradition, one of the landmark projects aimed at the professional development of faculty members and researchers, the IV Yassawi Winter School, has officially commenced at our university.

The purpose of this project is to enhance the knowledge and competencies of the university’s faculty members, researchers, and administrative staff in the fields of science, academia, international relations, and sports, as well as to strengthen cooperation and collegial ties within the academic community.

The opening event was attended by vice-rectors and department directors, heads of structural units, faculty deans, directors of research institutes, and heads of departments.

The first day of the Winter School was dedicated to Science and Strategic Development.

Opening the event, Rector Zhanar Temirbekova addressed the participants, saying:
“Dear colleagues, I sincerely congratulate you on the opening of the Winter School. I am confident that all the topics presented within this important program will be beneficial to everyone here. If the issues raised by our scholars and speakers are addressed effectively and supported accordingly, this will undoubtedly contribute to the further development of our university. I wish the Winter School every success.”

Vice-Rector for Finance and International Relations, Mustafa Giritlioglu, then delivered his welcoming remarks:

“Welcome to the opening of the IV Winter School, which is traditionally held every year at our university and holds significant academic importance. Today, higher education institutions operate in a highly developed information and technological era, embracing such critical areas as artificial intelligence and digitalization. These priorities are also reflected in our strategic plan. Therefore, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the organizers of the Winter School for addressing such timely and profound topics.”

Vice-Rector for Science and Strategic Development, Ainash Oshibayeva, also addressed the audience:

“The primary goal in developing the Winter School program was to provide you with useful and practical information. Within the framework of the Winter School, we decided to thoroughly examine strategies for entering international rankings, including scientific and academic excellence strategies, international relations strategies, commercialization, as well as digitalization and the use of artificial intelligence. Going forward, these initiatives must be implemented in a systematic and well-planned manner. Taking these priorities into account, we have designed this year’s Winter School program. In the coming days, we will focus on each area separately and present new insights, strategies, and indicators.”

The session began with a presentation by Khairulla Massadikov, Director of the Department of Science, who delivered a report entitled “The University’s Scientific Potential and Human Resources.”

This was followed by a presentation by Azat Issakov, Director of the Commercialization Office, who provided detailed information on the Commercialization Strategy and the Roadmap for 2025–2026 in line with the university’s Development Program for 2024–2029.

At the conclusion of the event, speakers and participants exchanged views and shared their proposals.

It should be noted that the Winter School program will continue until January 23.
