WINTER SCHOOL: TECHNIQUES FOR PREPARING ARTICLES FOR INTERNATIONALLY INDEXED JOURNALS

Today, within the framework of the Winter School, Module 3 was held on the topic “Techniques for Preparing Articles for Internationally Indexed Journals.”

The first speaker, Nursultan Meirambekuly, PhD, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Ecology Research Institute, provided extensive information on the procedures for preparing intellectual property documentation for scientific results.

During the session, the speaker addressed issues related to the protection of intellectual property objects arising from scientific research. He explained the main types of intellectual property, including the legal significance of patents for inventions and utility models. He also provided detailed information on the patent application process, submission procedures, and examination stages.

In his presentation, Nursultan Meirambekuly emphasized the importance of patents for universities, noting that patents not only legally protect research outcomes but also enable their commercialization and contribute to improving the scientific performance indicators and rankings of academic staff. He also highlighted the role of international agreements and patent databases in advancing scientific research and offered participants practical guidance on properly documenting and protecting inventions from a legal perspective.

The second speaker, Bekzhan Kosalbayev, PhD, Postdoctoral Researcher at the Ecology Research Institute, delivered an insightful presentation titled “Analyzing Your Publications: Which Topics Work?”

During his talk, he discussed modern research methods in the fields of microbiology, metagenomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics, explaining their practical significance in ecology, agriculture, and biotechnology.

He also provided an in-depth overview of chemical and biological analyses conducted using GC-MS and HPLC instruments, shared his experience in participating in international scientific projects, and offered a detailed analysis of scientific article writing. In addition, he introduced participants to data analysis techniques and skills for working with bioinformatics software.

Overall, the session enabled participants to gain a deep understanding of both the theoretical and practical aspects of preparing articles for internationally indexed journals. Through concrete examples, the speakers demonstrated effective approaches to improving research quality by protecting scientific results as intellectual property and conducting thorough analysis. Participants acquired essential knowledge and practical experience required to prepare their research in accordance with international standards, actively engaging in discussions, asking questions, and exchanging views.
