The University Senate carries out its activities in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of K.R., the Education Legislation of the Republic of K.R., the decrees of the Government of the Republic of K.R. and the Republic of Turkey on Education, other legal regulations on education, the decisions of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of K.R. and the Statutes of the University.
The Senate is the supreme body of the University. The Senate carries out its activities under the chairmanship of the university rector. The members of the Senate consist of the rector and the vice-rector, the vice-rectors, the deans of the faculties, the Chief Physician of the Clinical Diagnostic Center, the directors of the institutes and colleges, the President of the Union, the President of the Youth Committee and one faculty member from each faculty elected by the Faculty Board. The senate member elected by the Faculty Board shall serve for 3 years and the other members shall be members of the senate for the duration of their term of office. The Senate convenes at least 4 (four) times a year in accordance with the plan.
Senate activities are carried out as follows according to the University Statute:
- To discuss proposals for the opening, merging or closing of academic departments and submit them to the approval of the Board of Trustees;
- To decide on the principles of the University's education, research and publication activities;
- To evaluate proposals for changes in the curricula and plans of private secondary education, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs and submit them to the Board of Trustees for approval;
- Reviewing and approving the annual curriculum of the University;
- Determining the principles of the examination system;
- Evaluating and deciding on proposals for the awarding of honorary and academic titles of the University;
- Determining the basis of the University's internal discipline and rules;
- To evaluate the report on the strategic plan and development indicators prepared by the Rectorate;
- Approval of the composition of the Senate;
- Hearing the annual work report of the Rector of the University;
- Election of the members of the University Administrative Board;
- To discuss and resolve the complaints of faculties, institutes and colleges in the field of education;
- To fulfill other duties and obligations specified in the regulations.
