MEETING BETWEEN THE BRITISH AMBASSADOR AND STUDENTS
Today, Sally Axworthy, the British Ambassador to Kazakhstan, paid a special visit to our university during her trip to the Turkistan region.
During her visit, Ambassador Axworthy met with members of the international youth network Y-PEER, which operates with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The network participants shared insights about their work, key initiatives, and values, and also organized a short energizer session for the Ambassador.
University rector Zhanar Temirbekova welcomed the Ambassador and presented her with a special gift in recognition of her visit. Ambassador Axworthy, in turn, expressed her gratitude for the university’s support of the Y-PEER network and highlighted her openness to future collaborative initiatives and partnerships.
As part of the global “16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence” campaign, students performed a short forum play to raise awareness of important societal issues. Ambassador Axworthy praised the students for their engagement and initiative, spoke openly with them, and wished them success in their future endeavors.
It is noteworthy that Y-PEER members attending today’s meeting came not only from Turkistan but from various regions across Kazakhstan.
