Our University Honors Students Who Have Brought Glory to the Nation in Sports

Today, our university hosted a special meeting to celebrate students who have brought honor to the nation through their outstanding achievements in sports. The university leadership and staff paid tribute to two international champions — Saken Bibossynov and Zarina Ashir.

Saken Bibossynov recently competed in the 54 kg category at the World Championship organized by the International Boxing Association (IBA) in Dubai, where he claimed the gold medal, adding another prestigious achievement to his record. He has previously represented Kazakhstan with distinction at international competitions, earning a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics and becoming a champion at both the World and Asian Championships.

Our student Zarina Ashir also made headlines at the 5th Para Asian Games in Dubai, competing in para powerlifting. In the under-50 kg category, she lifted 80 kg to win the gold medal. Notably, she had earlier been crowned World Cup champion.

During the meeting, Rector Zhanar Temirbekova remarked:
"You have elevated not only the nation’s prestige but also the reputation of our university. Today marks the conclusion of our 8-week Academic Leadership Seminar, and we specially invited you because you are young leaders in sports — determined, persistent, and never giving up."

The champions, Zarina Ashir and Saken Bibossynov, expressed their gratitude to the university administration. Saken Bibossynov said:
"Thank you for recognizing and rewarding our efforts! I am proud to represent this university and to be its student. This is a great honor and immense pride for me. God willing, we will continue to work tirelessly, achieve excellent results, and elevate the prestige of our country and university, conquering many new heights."

Rector Temirbekova presented monetary awards and special gifts on behalf of the university to the students who proudly raised the national flag and made the national anthem resound.

The meeting concluded with the university staff congratulating the two champions on their remarkable achievements and taking commemorative photos.
