An international scientific and practical conference titled “Zhumabay Abilda and the Directions of Literary Studies Development”, dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Doctor of Philology Zhumabay Abilda, was held at the Faculty of Philology of our university.
At the beginning of the event, the rector Zhanar Temirbekova, honored guests, and the faculty members planted a tree on the university grounds in honor of Zhumabay Abilda.
The conference began with the screening of a special documentary film about Zhumabay Abilda.
Opening the event, Rector Zhanar Temirbekova said:
“Today we have gathered in our academic home for a wonderful occasion. Welcome to this gathering dedicated to our respected mentor, Zhumabay Abilda, who made a great contribution to the development of our university, the high-quality training of students, and their involvement in research activities!”
On behalf of the university, the rector expressed respect to Zhumabay Abilda’s wife, Raushan Bekseitova, and his daughter by presenting them with a traditional shapan and flowers.
“This event is the result of our esteemed teacher’s immense contribution to the development of national spirituality and his wisdom in educating students. Zhumabay Abilda is known for his profound scholarly research, active academic work, and invaluable contribution to the development of Kazakh linguistics. His works are significant not only within university classrooms but also in the national scientific community,” noted the Vice-Rector for Social and Cultural Development, Yedil Tolegenov.
The Head of the Center for Sustainable Social Development of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Nurgali Oraz, delivered a presentation titled “The Angel of Literature and Art.”
During the plenary session, renowned scholars shared their reflections within the themes:
- “The Phenomenon of Zhumabay Abilda: Continuity of Civic Consciousness and Artistic Thought”;
- “Zhumabay Abilov — Citizen, Scholar, and Friend”;
• “Folklore Objects in the Research of Zhumabay Abilda”;
• “Zhumabay Abil — A Promoter of National Art,”
and other related topics.
Colleagues, friends, and companions who personally knew the scholar shared valuable memories, revealing his character as a teacher, researcher, loyal friend, and devoted family man.
Thus, those gathered honored the bright memory of Zhumabay Abilda, who dedicated his life to the development of Kazakh spiritual culture.
