AS PART OF THE “SUSTAINABLE GREEN CAMPUS” PROJECT, AN EVENT ON TREE GRAFTING WAS HELD
With the organizational support of the Research Center for Sustainable Development and the Faculty of Economics and Management, an environmental event titled “Sustainable Green Campus” was held at our university.
This event was organized as part of the nationwide environmental campaign “Clean Kazakhstan”, initiated by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart К.Tokayev and implemented across the country. The main goal of the event was to promote environmental awareness and increase responsibility for nature conservation.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mukhittin Şimşek, University Rector Zhanar Temirbekova, Acting Representative of the Rector Naji Gench, faculty deans, professors, and students. They planted young trees in the Alumni Alley, setting an example of caring for nature.
Opening the event, Chairman of the Board of Trustees Muhittin Simsek emphasized the importance of the environmental initiatives being implemented nationwide:
“The ‘Clean Kazakhstan’ campaign was launched at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev. This is a very important initiative — tree planting and greening activities are being carried out throughout the country. We are also trying to contribute and work in this direction. In fact, every tree you plant is your effort and your creation. May the young saplings you plant today turn into green trees that will give you shade in the future,” he said.
In her speech, University Rector Zhanar Temirbekova highlighted the significance of the “green campus” concept:
“Today we have gathered for an important purpose. As part of the ‘Sustainable Green Campus’ initiative, we are planting new trees and contributing to the ‘Clean Kazakhstan’ campaign. This initiative has been implemented for several years with the support of President Kassym-Jomart K. Tokayev. We also actively participate in this noble cause,” she noted.
During the event, university leadership and students jointly planted tree saplings.
It is worth noting that the young trees planted on the university grounds are 2–3-year-old saplings specially grown in our botanical garden. Their species are adapted to the climate of Turkestan and will significantly contribute to the greening of the university campus in the future.
