Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gülhiz Pilten completed her undergraduate studies at Gazi University, Kastamonu Faculty of Education, Turkey. She received her master’s degree in 2002 and her doctorate in 2007 from the Institute of Educational Sciences at Gazi University in Turkey, specializing in Primary Education. Her graduate and doctoral research focused on reading comprehension strategies, specifically investigating teaching methods to enhance reading comprehension skills. Between 2012 and 2013, she was a visiting scholar at the University of Missouri, USA, where she engaged in advanced research in her field.
Dr. Pilten began her academic career in 1999 as a research assistant at Pamukkale University in Turkey. She was appointed as an assistant professor at Necmettin Erbakan University in 2007 and obtained the title of associate professor in Primary Education (Turkish Education) in 2018. Since 2017, she has been serving as a faculty member at Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University in Kazakhstan.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pilten has published numerous articles on primary education and literacy instruction at national and international levels. Her research is particularly recognized in the areas of classroom literacy instruction, metacognitive reading strategies, and assessment methods. She has contributed to educational publications and co-authored book chapters, including Teaching Literacy in Primary Education and Teaching Metacognitive Strategies, offering valuable insights to the field.
In her teaching activities, she provides courses at doctoral and master’s levels, such as "Creative Writing Strategies and Instruction" and "Components of Reading and Assessment."
