THE UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION MET WITH THE DEAFLYMPICS CHAMPIONS
Today, the leadership of our university welcomed our graduates Shadiyar Kuandyk and Toktarbek Aydarbek, who achieved victories at the 25th Summer Deaflympics held in Tokyo, Japan.
The meeting was attended by Chair of the Board of Trustees Mukhittin Simsek, University Rector Janar Temirbekova, Rector’s Representative Naсi Genc, Vice-Rector for Social and Cultural Development Yedil Tulegenov, Vice-Rector for Finance and International Relations Mustafa Giritlioglu, Head of the Sports and Wellness Center Yerkebulan Balgabayev, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Yermek Seidakhmetov, as well as university staff and the athletes’ coaches.
It is worth noting that at the recently held 25th Summer Deaflympics, Shadiyar Kuandyk, who represented Kazakhstan in judo, brought home one of the country’s first gold medals. Competing in the 73 kg category, he dominated the tatami. Our graduate Shadiyar Kuandyk studied at the university from 2017 to 2021.
Another of our graduates, Toktarbek Aydarbek, competing in the 100 kg weight category, also showed outstanding results, winning a silver medal in the individual event and a gold medal in the team competition. He completed his “Physical Education and Sports” degree in 2019, “Local Governance” in 2021, and his Master’s in “Physical Education and Sports” in 2023, and continues to contribute to the development of national sports.
During the meeting, Chair of the Board of Trustees Mukhittin Simsek expressed his gratitude to the athletes: “We value you as our own children. Reaching such great heights is not only a joy for us but also for your country and the entire Turkic world. I believe you have many more significant achievements ahead of you,” he said.
University Rector Janar Temirbekova also noted: “We do not differentiate between our current students and graduates. Everyone who has studied at this university is a member of our family. We are always proud of the accomplishments of our graduates and support them wholeheartedly. The achievements of athletes with special abilities are twice as valuable to us. We thank you for promoting the names of our university and Kazakhstan around the world.”
Following this, the athletes’ coaches—Honored Coaches of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhakypbek Kassymbekov and Marat Faiziov, as well as Dean of the Faculty of Sports Yermek Seidakhmetov—also spoke about the ongoing work and accomplishments in the field of sports.
The victorious graduates, Shadiyar Kuandyk and Toktarbek Aydarbek, expressed their gratitude to the university leadership for the warm reception.
At the end of the event, they were presented with letters of appreciation and special gifts.
This meeting was organized to honor the achievements of our graduates and to inspire young people to reach new heights in sports.
