    THE 80TH MEETING OF THE AUTHORIZED COUNCIL: UNIVERSITY DEVELOPMENT DIRECTIONS AND STRATEGIC ISSUES DISCUSSED

    Today, the 80th meeting of the Authorized Council of our University was held in Astana. During the meeting, key issues related to the University’s academic, financial, and administrative activities were discussed, and important decisions for the upcoming academic years were adopted.

    The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Authorized Council, Professor Muhittin Simsek of Marmara University; the Deputy Chairman of the Authorized Council and Vice Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Talgat Yeshenkulov; and members of the Authorized Council, including the Chairman of the National Security Committee of the Republic of Turkey, Professor Ibrahim Kalin (online); Member of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Professor Darkhan Kydyrali; Vice Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Turkey, Serdar Cam; Deputy Akim of Turkistan Region, Nurbol Turashbekov (online); Director of the Social Sector Budget Department of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhanar Aldasugurova; as well as the Rector of the University and member of the Authorized Council, Zhanar Amangeldikyzy Temirbekova.

    Opening the meeting, the Chairman of the Authorized Council, Muhittin Simsek, emphasized the strategic importance of the University for Kazakhstan and Turkey and noted that the main objective of the Authorized Council is to ensure the sustainable development of the institution.

    In his remarks, Authorized Council member from the Kazakh side, Darkhan Kydyrali, highlighted the special role of Khoja Akhmed Yassawi University in the Turkic world, shared recent positive developments, and noted that the decisions to be adopted would contribute to the University’s development at the international level.

    In accordance with the agenda, the Chairman of the Authorized Council first presented general information.

    Subsequently, the Council reviewed the report on the activities and achievements of the Rectorate for the 2024–2025 academic year, the finalized financial report for 2024, and the draft budget for 2026.

    The members of the Authorized Council also reviewed the results of the administrative and financial audit for 2024, as well as the academic audit for the 2023–2024 academic year.

    In addition, issues related to determining student enrollment for the 2026–2027 academic year were discussed, including the number of students to be admitted from the Republic of Turkey, Turkic-speaking countries and related communities, as well as within the framework of the TurkTEP program, and the maximum enrollment limits for master’s and doctoral programs.

    At the conclusion of the meeting, consensus decisions were adopted on all agenda items, and specific tasks for the upcoming period were defined.
