THE OPENING CEREMONY OF THE INTERREGIONAL AI HACKATHON TOOK PLACE
Today, with the support of the Turkistan Region Akimat, organized by our university and the Department of Economic Investigations of the Financial Monitoring Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the Turkistan region, the opening of the AI Hackathon took place as part of the interregional forum titled “Financial Security in the Era of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.”
The event brought together representatives of central and local government bodies, experts, university leaders, and young participants.
The forum was aimed at implementing the digital transformation priorities outlined in the Address of the President of Kazakhstan.
During the opening ceremony, the Rector of our university, Zhanar Temirbekova, delivered a speech. She noted that the idea of organizing the project at the regional level had first been discussed just a month ago and that today they were witnessing its tangible results. She expressed her pleasure that young people from Kyzylorda, Taraz, Almaty, and Astana had gathered on the sacred land of Turkistan. She emphasized that modern opportunities are created primarily for young people and highlighted the special historical and spiritual significance of Turkistan, which reminds us that education must go hand in hand with values and upbringing. Knowledge without proper values, she noted, cannot serve the country’s future. Addressing the participants, she underlined that they were not only competing but could also become future partners. Their projects, she said, are aimed at strengthening the country’s financial security, and a state with strong financial security also demonstrates a high level of political culture. She expressed great confidence in the participants and wished them success.
The two-day AI Hackathon includes the development of projects based on real government case studies. Nearly 120 teams and around 400 participants have registered for the competition.
It is worth noting that students from our university are also actively participating in the hackathon. They have presented 25 projects, showcasing their ideas in the field of financial security.
In total, teams from Turkistan, Zhambyl, and Kyzylorda regions, as well as from the city of Shymkent, and from Astana and Almaty, are competing with one another.
Participants are proposing innovative solutions such as detecting illegal trade on Telegram, monitoring online fraud and financial pyramids using AI, analyzing public procurement processes, and preventing gambling addiction. A prize fund of 10 million tenge has been allocated for the best projects.
The AI Hackathon has become an important platform aimed at strengthening the principles of Law and Order in the digital era and enhancing the financial security infrastructure through modern technologies. As one of the organizers, our university has actively contributed to mobilizing the intellectual potential of young people to address pressing issues at the national level.
