Representatives of the Chinese company SAURAN SOLAR POWER paid a special visit to our University and met with Rector Zhanar Temirbekova.

The main purpose of the meeting was to discuss opportunities for students and graduates of the Faculty of Engineering to undertake industrial placements and internships, as well as to secure employment in the company’s major energy projects.

During the meeting, the parties discussed ways to combine students’ theoretical knowledge with practical industry experience, involve young engineers in real-world projects, and jointly train qualified professionals who meet the needs of the labour market. Company representatives emphasized that priority would be given to local specialists within the framework of the company’s large-scale projects in Kazakhstan.

The company representatives also noted that its core activities are related to the electric power and water energy sectors. Among the company’s major plans are power and wind energy projects in the Sauran and Karaganda regions, with total investments of up to USD 10 billion. They also highlighted plans to contribute to the electricity supply of the Turkistan region.

During the meeting, the Sauran 300MW Solar Power + Battery Energy Storage Project was also presented. The project comprises a 300 MW solar power plant and a 90 MW/360 MWh battery energy storage system. The facility is expected to be connected to the power grid by the end of 2026 and commissioned in the first quarter of 2027.

The project also includes extensive workforce plans. During the peak construction phase, the number of local employees may exceed 1,000. This is expected to create new employment opportunities for highly qualified professionals in the region, including young engineers.

Rector Zhanar Temirbekova, in turn, presented the University’s core mission and key areas of education.

“We want our students to work for leading companies around the world. We are pleased that you have come all the way from China to offer them such opportunities. We would be delighted to see our faculty members and students gain new professional opportunities in their respective fields,” the Rector said.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed their intention to further develop cooperation in providing industrial placements and internships for students, creating employment opportunities for graduates of the Faculty of Engineering, exchanging professional experience, and implementing joint professional projects.
