“PAIRED HEARTS – GRADUATES!” EVENT HELD
An event titled “Paired Hearts – Graduates!” was held at our university on the occasion of Family Day, organized by the Alumni Association.
The main purpose of the evening was to strengthen the ties between the university and its alumni, promote family values among young people, and encourage a model of family life based on mutual respect and understanding.
The event brought together alumni who met during their student years at the university and later started families together.
Among the participating couples were Yelaman Toleutay and Rysgul Doszhanova, 2020 graduates of the Department of Kazakh Philology and the authors of the popular “TARMAQTAR” project. The young poets continue to promote literature and poetry and work together in the creative field. During the evening, they shared memories of their student years and spoke about family, creativity, and mutual understanding.
The evening also featured performances by Kainar Zhandilla, a 2020 graduate of the Vocal Arts program, and Korkem Arysbek, a 2021 graduate of the Pedagogy and Psychology program, adding to the festive atmosphere.
During the gathering, some of the university’s earliest graduates also shared their love stories, which began during their student years at the institution. Alumni who have now been married for more than 30 years offered their advice on family upbringing and values.
The university administration also took the stage to share personal reflections and memorable stories from their family lives with the audience.
Peyami Battal, Representative of the Rector, said: “We are witnessing a very meaningful concert program. Friends, colleagues, and students who graduated from our university and went on to build families have gathered here today to highlight the importance of family and its place in our culture and faith through such a meaningful event.
Family is one of the fundamental values of our culture. When families are strong, society is strong. When society is strong, the state becomes strong and stable. Ultimately, this contributes to peace and stability throughout the world.
Our family values have been shaped by the philosophies of great figures such as Khoja Ahmed Yasawi, Mevlana, and Yunus Emre. Therefore, by raising the next generation with this awareness, we hold in our hands the opportunity to shape the future of Kazakhstan, Türkiye, and the entire world. I would like to thank the organizers for this wonderful event.”
Next, Elmira Idrisova, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, said: “Family Day is a celebration and an important day for all of us. As the saying goes, ‘The homeland begins with the family.’ The upbringing we receive from our parents lays the foundation for our development as individuals.
No matter what field we work in or where we serve, the family holds a special place in our lives. Although I am a vice-rector at the university, I am also someone’s wife, someone’s mother, and someone’s daughter-in-law. We strive to fulfill all these roles together. Therefore, my advice to you is to cherish your families and be a source of support for one another. Grow and develop together, step by step, and always support each other. Then your lives will be filled with happiness.”
Yedil Tolegenov, Vice-Rector for Social, Cultural Affairs and Development, also expressed his warm wishes to the participants: “This year marks 30 years since I first came to this university as a student. When I completed my bachelor’s degree and entered the master’s program, I met my life partner. We both studied at this university. Of course, that was one of the most memorable periods of my life.
In my opinion, the most important values in a family are understanding, respect, and support for one another. Love alone is not enough; mutual understanding and responsibility are also essential for building a strong family. Therefore, my advice to young people today is to understand and respect one another when starting a family and to set common goals for your life together. Only then can a home be filled with harmony, prosperity, and happiness.”
At the end of the evening, the audience applauded the participating alumni couples for their performances and inspiring stories.
