TRADITIONAL INTERFACULTY STUDENT SPORTS COMPETITION KICKS OFF

The opening ceremony of the traditional interfaculty student sports competition was held at our university. This year marks the 35th edition of the event.

The competition aims to strengthen friendship among the faculties, increase students’ interest in sports, and promote a healthy lifestyle.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice-Rector for Social and Cultural Development Edil Tolegenov said:

“In addition to pursuing their studies, our students participate in various sporting competitions and improve their physical fitness. We consistently encourage young people to be competitive. Of course, in a competition between faculties, the most important thing is not winning first place, but the teams working together towards a common goal. This is more valuable than any victory. We hope to see you reach great heights in science, education, arts, and sports.”

Baglan Yermakhanov, Dean of the Faculty of Sports, wished the participants every success and expressed his gratitude to the Sports and Recreation Centre, faculty deans and deputy deans, and active students for their support.

As part of the Spartakiad, teams will compete in relay races, football, volleyball, togyzkumalak, arm wrestling, table tennis, shooting, chess, and tug of war.

Today, the faculties are competing in relay races, while the futsal tournament will take place tomorrow.

The Spartakiad, organised by the Sports and Recreation Centre, will run from 5 October to 12 November.
