A LITERARY AND INTELLECTUAL EVENING HELD UNDER THE THEME “FROM BOOKS TO THOUGHT, FROM THOUGHT TO ACTION”
A literary and intellectual evening entitled “From Books to Thought, from Thought to Action,” dedicated to spiritual development, was held at our university. The event was jointly organized by the Library staff and the Department of Youth Policy as part of the “Reading Nation — Intellectual Nation” project.
The aim of the evening was to promote reading as an important means of broadening one’s horizons, provide participants with an opportunity to share their reflections on the books they had read, and demonstrate how lessons learned from books can be translated into good deeds in everyday life.
At the beginning of the event, the moderator, librarian Aruzhan Kozhakhmet, introduced the participants to the quiz rules and emphasized the importance of applying the knowledge and lessons gained from books in everyday life.
During the evening, students competed in several stages: “My Book World” board activity, the “Thoughtful Reader” quiz, the group activity “From Books to Thought,” “A Treasury of Ideas,” “A Reader’s Promise,” and “The Thoughtful Reader’s Action Map.” Each stage was designed to allow participants to demonstrate the knowledge they had gained through reading, their ability to draw conclusions, and their creativity.
During the intellectual competition, university students shared their impressions of the books they had read and discussed the key ideas and life values reflected in them. While completing group assignments, participants exchanged opinions and learned to connect their reflections on their reading with concrete actions.
At the end of the event, the moderator noted that a book is a spiritual tool that broadens a person’s worldview, develops critical thinking, and inspires beneficial actions. The evening concluded with the shared motto: “A Reading Nation Is a Thinking Nation; a Thinking Nation Is a Nation of Action!” Students who demonstrated active participation received gifts from the Library staff.
The literary and intellectual evening was a meaningful gathering aimed at increasing young people’s interest in reading, fostering a reading culture, and developing the ability to reflect on what they read and apply the knowledge gained to everyday life.
