A MEETING ON “FINANCIAL SECURITY AND CAREER GUIDANCE” WAS HELD AT THE UNIVERSITY
A meeting with representatives of the Department of Economic Investigations for the Turkistan Region was held at our university on the topic “Financial Security and Career Guidance”.
The event was attended by representatives of the Department of Economic Investigations, headed by its Director, Sabyrgali Balgaliyev; the University Rector, Zhanar Temirbekova; faculty members; and students.
Opening the meeting, Rector Zhanar Temirbekova noted:
“For 35 years, our university has successfully fulfilled its important and honorable mission of providing quality education, conducting fundamental research and carrying out socially beneficial activities. Law is one of the fields that plays a significant role in the development of the state and society. Therefore, the participation of students from the Faculties of Law and Economics in today's meeting is quite natural, as these two fields are closely interconnected.
For economic relations to function effectively, it is essential to maintain order in society. The law enforcement system plays a particularly important role in ensuring this order. As society develops, the law enforcement system also evolves and improves in accordance with the demands of the times.
At the initiative of the Head of State, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, large-scale political, constitutional and social reforms are being implemented in our country. In this context, the concept of ‘Law and Order’ is of particular importance.
This year, our students who have reached the age of 18 participated in elections twice, demonstrating their civic engagement. In March, they took part in the referendum on the adoption of the new Constitution, and in August, they participated in the elections of members of the Kurultai. All these initiatives are aimed at regulating public life and involving citizens in decision-making processes concerning the future of the country.”
The Director of the Department of Economic Investigations for the Turkistan Region, Sabyrgali Balgaliyev, then addressed the participants:
“In accordance with the instructions of the Head of State, the Agency for Financial Monitoring works to protect the country's financial and economic security, prevent economic offences and ensure the financial security of the population. Accomplishing these objectives requires educated, highly qualified and responsible professionals. This is why we actively cooperate with the university.
In 2024, at the instruction of the Agency's Chairman, a micro-qualification programme was introduced at eight higher education institutions across the country, including your university. The programme provides students with an opportunity to learn from experienced specialists and improve their professional skills.
In 2025, eight students from your university completed this programme, while 13 students are currently enrolled. Upon successful completion, participants receive certificates. I encourage students who plan to pursue careers in law enforcement to deepen their knowledge and improve their professional qualifications starting today.”
In addition, Sabyrgali Balgaliyev presented Rector Zhanar Temirbekova with a special letter of appreciation and a commemorative gift.
During the meeting, Azamat Altan, Head of the Department of Prevention and Analytical Development, presented IT projects developed jointly with the university and spoke about their capabilities and areas of application.
Gulziya Karsybay, Senior Operative Officer for Particularly Important Cases at the Department of Economic Investigations for the Turkistan Region then spoke to students about financial security, the risks associated with money mule schemes (dropper activities) and ways to protect themselves against fraudulent activities.
The students actively participated in an open discussion and received answers to their questions.
An educational interactive game involving students was also organized as part of the meeting. The most active participants received special gifts.
The event aimed to improve students' financial literacy, broaden their understanding of the prevention of economic offences and promote career guidance among young people.
