Today, our university hosted a national forum titled “Law and Order. Economic Security: Promoting Financial Literacy and Combating Addictions.” The event was organized jointly by the university, the Financial Monitoring Agency, and the Department of Economic Investigations for the Turkestan region.

The forum aimed to promote a positive image of financial monitoring authorities among the public, enhance the capacity of the “AML ACADEMY” financial academy, develop financial literacy, cultivate legal and digital culture among youth, prevent gambling and financial pyramid schemes, and instill good cyber hygiene practices.

The forum opened with a flash mob by university students, demonstrating support for the initiative “Economic Security: Promoting Financial Literacy and Combating Addictions.”

The students addressed their peers with the following message:
“In society, addictions such as gambling, droppers, financial pyramids, drugs—including synthetic substances like vape and mephedrone—are widespread, especially among young people. This is a societal problem. Therefore, we, the students of Yassawi University, call for addressing the root causes of these issues, avoiding harmful habits, maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and upholding public order. Understanding that our future and the future of our country are in our hands, we pass this challenge on to all students in Kazakhstan!”

Following the flash mob, the Vice Akim of the Turkestan region, Yertay Altayev, Head of the Department of Economic Investigations for the Turkestan region, Yerbolat Balgabayev, the Akim of Turkestan city, Azimbek Pazylbekuly, representatives of the Financial Monitoring Agency, and law enforcement officers joined the students in a morning exercise session.

The event continued in the university library with panel sessions.

Speakers encouraged youth to avoid socially harmful behaviors, such as gambling, financial pyramids, and drug use, and emphasized the importance of legal and financial literacy.
