From November 17 to 24, PhD Faride Kamalova, Head of the Department of Religious Studies at the Faculty of Theology, and Senior Lecturer Mukhit Tolegenov made an academic trip to the city of Samarkand in the Republic of Uzbekistan. The meeting, which brought together scholars, was organized within the framework of the grant project AP27511211 – Identifying the axiological content of legends and narratives associated with the sacred sites of Turkestan and developing mechanisms for their application in youth education.

The main purpose of the trip was to visit the sacred and blessed sites of Samarkand, study the myths and legends associated with them, and exchange experience in educational methodologies related to this area.

During the trip, the delegation from our university first visited the Imam Bukhari Center and familiarized themselves with the fundamental research conducted there. In the course of the conversation, the center’s director, Professor Shovosil Ziyodov, emphasized the deep historical ties and the importance of academic cooperation between the two countries.

In addition, the scholars visited the Mausoleum of Imam Maturidi, the Makhdum Aghzam Complex, the Shakhi Zinda architectural ensemble, and the Mirzo Ulugbek museum-observatory complex, where they collected research materials.

Our scholars also delivered lectures to students of the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service on the subjects “Phenomenology of Religion,” “Yassawi Studies,” and “Psychology of Religion.” After the lectures, the delegation was received by the institute’s Vice-Rector, Tolkyn Sharipov. The meeting included a meaningful discussion on the effective cooperation between the two educational institutions.

Such academic interaction and collaboration will undoubtedly pave the way for new projects and bring beneficial results for both sides.
