Today, one of our university’s flagship initiatives, the IV Yassawi Winter School, which lasted two weeks, successfully concluded.

This important project, aimed at the professional development of faculty members and researchers, brought together nearly 20 speakers who delivered presentations on a wide range of relevant topics. Around 100 participants, including faculty members, researchers, young scientists, masters and doctoral students, attended the Winter School.

The project was designed to enhance the competencies of the university’s academic staff, researchers, and administrative personnel in science, academia, and international cooperation, while also strengthening collaboration and professional partnerships within the academic community. Overall, the Winter School was organized and conducted at a high academic and institutional level.

On the final day, Module 5 was held under the theme “From Idea to Result in Science.” During this session, Nuraly Akimbekov, PhD, professor-researcher at the Ecology Research Institute, delivered an informative presentation titled “Artificial Intelligence in the Publishing Community: Risks and Opportunities.”

During the first week of the Winter School, speakers addressed key topics such as “Strategic Development of the University: Research, Academic Excellence, and Institutional Transformation,” “Academic Excellence and the Quality of Educational Programs,” “International Cooperation, Academic Mobility, and Joint Projects,” “Digitalization of Education, Science, and Management Processes and the Use of Artificial Intelligence,” and “National and Modern Concepts in Youth Education.”

These discussions contributed to enhancing the university’s competitiveness in the global educational environment and to the development of high-quality human capital. They also created opportunities for the systematic modernization of science, education, and training processes in line with contemporary demands.

The second week of the Winter School consisted of thematic modules featuring presentations by well-known and highly qualified national scholars. Young researchers shared their experiences, while participants received detailed guidance on the role of citations as a key indicator of scientific impact, the selection of appropriate academic journals, article formatting requirements, and the manuscript submission process. The sessions also covered methods for preparing high-quality, citable research papers, procedures for protecting intellectual property rights related to scientific outcomes, and strategies for building a personal academic brand in the postdoctoral stage.

Overall, the IV Yassawi Winter School became an important academic platform for advancing the university’s strategic development priorities. It not only strengthened the research capacity of faculty members and scholars, but also enhanced their competitiveness in the international academic arena, supported their adaptation to modern scientific standards, and fostered their professional growth.
