A seminar-training on “Artificial Intelligence and Applied Research: New Opportunities in Healthcare and Education” has started at our university.

The event brings together faculty members, researchers, young scientists, and administrative staff. It is organized within the framework of the Academic Center of Excellence project, implemented under the program-targeted funding of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2024–2026 — “Development of Innovative Technologies and Establishment of Modern Infrastructure for the Sustainable Development of Southern Kazakhstan.” The seminar addresses current research directions in healthcare, biotechnology, ecology, education, and other social sciences, as well as applications of artificial intelligence.

The main goal of the seminar is to enhance research activities using modern technologies, improve the digital competencies of faculty and staff, foster interdisciplinary innovations, and create a professional platform for sharing experience and knowledge in healthcare, biotechnology, ecology, education, and other social sciences.

The session was moderated by the Vice-Rector for Science and Strategic Development, Ainash Oshibayeva.

Opening the event, Rector’s Representative, Professor Naci Genc noted:
“Events like this and scientific projects in universities are of great importance. I thank my colleagues and all participants for organizing this seminar-training! Today, the topic of ‘Artificial Intelligence’ is actively discussed. A key question is: what will AI lead humanity to? For scientists, AI is extremely important; it is used in research projects and scientific work. The correct use of AI for the benefit of humanity is in our hands — this must not be forgotten.”

The opening ceremony smoothly transitioned into sectional sessions. Natalia Glushkova, PhD, Professor and Director of the Institute for Health Research at al-Farabi KazNU, presented an overview of research designs in biomedicine and addressed the development of epidemiological and cross-sectional studies.

The seminar consists of four sections:

Applied research in biomedicine and healthcare

Techniques for writing articles for international indexed journals

Applications of artificial intelligence in research and healthcare

Applications of artificial intelligence in education and social sciences

The seminar-training will continue until April 17.
