DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL OF THE ORGANIZATION OF TURKIC STATES, MEREY MUKHAZHAN, HELD AN INTERVIEW WITH STUDENTS
Our university was visited by Merey Mukazhan, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States. The esteemed guest first met with Mustafa Giritlioğlu, Vice-Rector for Finance and International Relations, and Yedil Tolegenov, Vice-Rector for Social and Cultural Development.
Next, he held a meeting with students of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences.
At the meeting, Merey Mukazhan spoke extensively to the students about the Organization of Turkic States’ main objectives, tasks, and strategic directions. He emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation among Turkic countries, promoting shared values, and fostering active civic engagement among youth. He also called on the younger generation to uphold morality, patriotism, and unity.
“Dear faculty and students, welcome! I am pleased to meet with you on the eve of Ramadan. Khoja Akhmed Yassawi University holds a special place for Kazakhstan and the Turkic world. I would like to encourage you to appreciate the treasure you have at hand.
A person must be able to preserve their essence. The upbringing and blessings of one’s parents have a significant influence. Additionally, young people remember and promote the traditions and culture of the Turkic world. We must not lose these values. Only then can we maintain our identity in turbulent times,” he said.
The speaker also shared information about his biography and his path of education and professional development. Since 2023, as Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, he has been responsible for various sectors, including the economy, agriculture, and healthcare. He spoke about his student years and the goals and dreams he set for himself.
He encouraged students to read books and learn foreign languages, stressing the importance of beginning a strong foundation for the future during student years. He noted that students with ambition have promising futures and highlighted that Kazakhstan is a unique country capable of supporting youth who wish to study and develop. He said: “Our country has high potential in the field of education. It must be used correctly. Nothing comes ready-made. Therefore, students should improve themselves and maintain strong academic performance. Continuous pursuit of knowledge is necessary.”
He also advised preparing early for studying abroad at the master’s or doctoral level and instilling discipline and responsibility.
“Study hard. Be the best in your chosen profession. Excellence in your field is important. You must love your chosen profession wholeheartedly. If you do not like it, do not start. Listening to your inner voice and making decisions accordingly guides you on the right path,” he said.
In addition, a video highlighting the active work of the Organization of Turkic States was shown. “Until now, there were no independent Turkic organizations. Over the years, a historic opportunity arose, and we became a distinct force. The Organization of Turkic States has established cooperation in nearly 58 areas. Our scope is expanding year by year. All of this work aims to ensure that our citizens can move freely among countries and act as a united force. We work around the question of how ordinary people can benefit from the Organization of Turkic States and how we can assist them,” he added.
At the end of the meeting, students asked questions that concerned them. They showed interest in the work of the Organization of Turkic States and shared their opinions. They expressed their gratitude to Merey Sayatuly, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, for the substantive and informative interview.
