The event was organized within the framework of a grant project by the “Scientific Fund” JSC under the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan — “Preservation of the Valuable Genetic Fund of the Botanical Garden of the International Kazakh-Turkish University named after Khoja Akhmet Yassawi through the Commercial Utilization of Bioresources Based on Innovative Technologies.”
Participants of the seminar first reviewed the product catalog of the Commercial Office’s production workshop, which manufactures fruit and berry products with zero waste. The catalog included dried apricots and pears, compotes, and sweet desserts made from fruits and berries. Guests not only examined the catalog but also sampled the natural products.
The seminar also featured a report on the current state and development prospects of agriculture in the Turkistan region, prepared by Nurlibek Boranbayev, manager of the Agro-Consulting Center of the Turkistan Region Chamber of Entrepreneurs and head of the “Yassawi” Knowledge Dissemination Center of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Kazakhstan.
In addition, important topics were discussed, including “Issues of Comprehensive Fruit and Vegetable Processing,” “Genetic Diversity of Ornamental Trees and Their Adaptation to Urbanization,” and “Effective Management of Orchards and Processing of Agricultural Crops.”
Timur Aripzhanov, sector coordinator of the Commercial Office, presented the work of the botanical garden’s fruit processing workshop and shared new insights with participants.
Alongside renowned scientists and specialists, our students also presented their projects. For example, fourth-year Biotechnology student Ayazhan Zheniskyzy shared her research on “Technology for Producing Apple Juice Using Enzymes and Its Biotechnological Features” and provided samples of the processed apple juice.
The seminar, focused on agricultural product processing and storage as well as the importance of natural products, was held at a high professional level. Participants actively discussed the topics raised and shared their opinions.
