INTERNATIONAL MEETING WITHIN TURKSOY: THE FUTURE OF TURKIC WORLD DANCE ART WAS DISCUSSED
Rector Zhanar Temirbekova paid a working visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan and participated in the III International Meeting of Rectors and Heads of State Choreographic Higher Education Institutions of TURKSOY member countries, held in the city of Khiva.
The notable event was organized within the framework of the III International “Lazgi” Dance Festival under the theme “Anthology of Traditional Folk Dances of the Turkic World.”
The international gathering brought together representatives from leading universities of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Turkmenistan. Speakers presented their countries’ achievements and initiatives in the study, preservation, and development of traditional folk dances.
In her welcoming address, Rector Zhanar Temirbekova highlighted the projects being implemented within the university’s mission and introduced the activities of the newly established Faculty of Arts, Media, and Design. She also spoke extensively about the achievements and creative accomplishments of the university’s “Bi-Sultan” dance ensemble.
During the visit, the Rector also held negotiations on establishing cooperation with leading choreographic organizations of Turkic states. Representatives of these organizations are expected to visit the university in the near future. In addition, the parties discussed opportunities for implementing academic mobility programs with major universities of brotherly countries.
During the meeting, participants discussed the structure of the six-volume fundamental publication titled “Anthology of Traditional Folk Dances of the Turkic World” and identified its scientific and methodological foundations.
The participants also considered the establishment of an international scientific and editorial council, the expansion of inter-university cooperation, joint research initiatives, academic mobility programs, and the organization of international conferences and festivals.
As a result of the meeting, important decisions were made to strengthen efforts aimed at preserving, systematizing, and promoting traditional folk dances, integrating anthology materials into educational programs, and widely promoting the cultural heritage of the Turkic world.
