HISTORY OF NAURYZNAME
An educational session titled “History of Nauryzname” was held for first-year students of the 6B01625 – “History” program at the Department of History, Faculty of Education and Humanities. During the session, students actively participated and prepared several presentations. The celebration traditions of Nauryz among Turkic peoples were widely discussed.
Nauryz is considered the beginning of the year in the Kazakh worldview. For nomadic people, spring marks the start of a new life. During this time, livestock gives birth, the land turns green, and nature is revived. People meet each other, forget past grievances, and enter the new year with good wishes.
It is not without reason that this holiday is called “The Great Day of the Nation.” During these days, not only festivities take place, but also values such as unity, kindness, charity, and renewal are emphasized.
In recent years, the holiday has been revitalized with new meaning and is widely celebrated as the Nauryzname decade. The period from March 14 to March 23 is dedicated to specific spiritual values:
