EXHIBITION-CONTEST “THE SPIRIT OF INDEPENDENCE: NATIONAL CODE AND MODERN FASHION” WAS HELD
The exhibition was dedicated to Independence Day — December 16 — and was held under the theme “Тәуелсіздік – айғағым, желбіре көк байрағым” (“Independence is my banner, may my blue flag fly high”).
The aim of the event was to give new life to out-of-use garments, enhance their value through upcycling, and showcase the skills and creative potential of young designers.
The ceremonial ribbon-cutting was performed by Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Elmira Idrissova, Vice-Rector for Socio-Cultural Development Yedil Tolegenov, and Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor of O. Zhanibekov OKPU, Kuandyk Eralin.
Twenty Design students participated in the competition, presenting their works to the jury.
The judging panel included Professor Kuandyk Yeralin (O. Zhanibekov OKPU), Master’s degree holder and lecturer Zulfia Imankulova, and stylist and founder of DNKA SHOWROOM, Anar Serikbayeva.
Competition results:
1st place — Ulzhan Taskul
2nd place — Sara Akylbekkyzy and Ayazhan Serikbay
3rd place — Nazym Stambekova, Alvina Tasybek, and Aruzhan Samen
Additionally, the event featured a fashion runway show presenting the “Samgau” collection, created by the 2025 graduates under the guidance of senior lecturer of the Department of Fine Arts, Dinara Yesenaliva.
