Today, the South Regional “Student Sports League” among university students has started at our university, organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The main goal of the Student Sports League is to promote a culture of sports among young people and to expand the pool of athletes who will represent the country on the international stage.
Students from higher education institutions of the Turkistan, Taraz, and Kyzylorda regions, as well as the city of Shymkent, are taking part in the competition. In total, athletes from 15 universities are competing in 7 sports disciplines to determine the strongest.
Competitions in togyzkumalak, Kazakh wrestling, basketball, futsal, and table tennis are being held at our university.
Today, the first matches took place in Kazakh wrestling and togyzkumalak. As a result, the men’s and women’s Kazakh wrestling teams emerged as winners and advanced to the finals.
In addition, university students successfully passed the regional stage in togyzkumalak.
The winners were congratulated by Vice-Rector for Social and Cultural Development Yedil Tolegenov.
It is worth noting that earlier, the chess intellectual competition held at the University of Tourism and Hospitality concluded successfully, and our athletes advanced to the final stage.
