“My Wisdom is a Poem for the Whole World” – Yassawi Hikmet Recitation Competition Held

“My wisdom is a poem for the whole world...” – In Turkistan, these profound words of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi were revived, marking a remarkable event where spirituality and knowledge came together.

On April 23, 2026, at the S. Piraliyev Conference Hall of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University, an intellectual competition on memorizing and reciting hikmets among students was held, turning into a true celebration of knowledge and spirituality.

Organized jointly by the Yassawi Studies Research Institute and the Faculty of Theology, the event aimed to instill the spiritual heritage of Yassawi into the younger generation. At the opening ceremony, the Rector’s representative, Dr., Professor Peyami Battal, and the Dean of the Faculty of Theology, Professor Sultanmurat Abzhalov, delivered speeches inspiring the youth. Prior to the competition, the Director of the Yassawi Studies Research Institute, PhD Baurzhan Saifunov, introduced the rules and format of the contest.

A total of 15 participants from the university and professional college competed in memorization and testing rounds. The performances were evaluated by a distinguished jury headed by Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Dosay Kenzhetay.

The jury panel consisted of eight members: Dosay Kenzhetay, Muhit Tulegenov, Didar Shauenov, Baurzhan Saifunov, Balaiym Tilekeeva, Lazzat Adieva, Zhusipbek Kassymbekov, and Salihabanu Khavaskhanova.

According to the results:
1st place: Aidyn Nemetova
2nd place: Kausar Babakhan, Ulmira Nartaykyzy
3rd place: Ayaulym Sarmanova, Khasan Maulen, Altynai Kozhai

Special nominations: Ulbala Leskenkyzy, Muhammadmin Abdilrakimuly
Certificates of appreciation were awarded to several participants.

Graduates of the Faculty of Theology, Bilal Khalmatov and Rustem Rakhimov, provided sponsorship and presented financial prizes.

At the conclusion, Professor Dosay Tursynbayuly and the Director of the Islamic Institute, Zhusipbek Aidarbekuly, emphasized the significance of hikmet knowledge and gave their blessings to young participants.

This day became not just a competition, but a historic moment when the spirit of Yassawi was revived in Turkistan, inspiring faith and knowledge in the hearts of youth.
