Today, as part of the national campaign "Clean Kazakhstan", a community clean-up event was held at the historic site of the ancient city of Sauran, organized with the support of our university and the Akimat of the Sauran district.

The good initiative brought together Akim of the Sauran district Maksat Tangatarov, deputy of the regional maslikhat Baimakhan Toimakhanuly, Rector of the university Zhanar Temirbekova, Acting Representative of the Rector Naci Gench, Vice-Rector for Finance and International Relations Mustafa Nursoy, Director of the Research Institute "Archaeology" Kopzhasar Zhetibaev, as well as faculty members and students.

As is known, under the instruction of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the national environmental campaign "Clean Kazakhstan" is being carried out across the country. The fourth week of the campaign is held under the theme "Sacred Places".

Our university supported the presidential initiative and today carried out landscaping and cleaning work at the historical site.

Rector Zhanar Temirbekova noted:
"This is not just an environmental campaign but an event of special significance. In the minds of the younger generation, respect for history is formed through such good deeds. Taking a moment to visit an ancient city, to see it with one’s own eyes, and to feel responsible for preserving its cleanliness as children of this great land — that is our shared duty."

Rector’s Representative Professor Naci Genc emphasized that this initiative holds special importance for Turkic-speaking peoples with a shared history. He also highlighted the need for participation in such projects not only at the university level but throughout society.

Vice-Rector Mustafa Nursoy added:
"What unites us all here is our history. Sauran, Turkistan, Sarayshyk, Taraz, and other ancient cities are our priceless heritage. We must pass these monuments on to future generations in their pristine beauty."

Director of the Research Institute "Archaeology" Kopzhassar Zhetibayev told the participants about the history of the ancient city and gave a tour of the site.

During the clean-up event, cleaning and sanitary works were carried out on the territory of the ancient city of Sauran. In addition, the university staff and students planted about 150 trees, contributing to this noble cause.
