A ceremonial event dedicated to September 1 – Knowledge Day and the beginning of the new academic year was held at our university.
The event was attended by the Chair of the Board of Trustees, Professor and Doctor Hüseyin Karaman, University Rector Zhanar Temirbekova, Rector’s Representative Peyami Battal, vice rectors, deans, members of the teaching and academic staff, and students.
During the event, a congratulatory letter from the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, addressed to the Chair of the Board of Trustees of our university, Hüseyin Karaman, was read out. In his congratulatory message, the Minister congratulated Hüseyin Karaman on his new position and wished him success and outstanding achievements in his responsible role.
Opening the ceremonial event, Chair of the Board of Trustees Hüseyin Karaman said:
“Khoja Akhmed Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University is an important manifestation of the brotherhood between Türkiye and Kazakhstan in the fields of education, science, and human development. Our main objectives in this new stage are to improve the quality of education, strengthen international cooperation, support scientific research, and develop academic mobility for students and faculty members.
Our responsibility is to educate a generation that knows its roots, language, history, and culture, masters modern technologies, is competitive at the global level, and uses its knowledge for the benefit of society. In this regard, we will work to transform our university into an academic and scientific meeting center of the Turkic world.”
The University Rector, Zhanar Temirbekova, also delivered a congratulatory address:
“The beginning of a new academic year is an important milestone for our university. Bringing first-year students together with the university administration, professors, teaching staff, and scholars is one of the manifestations of the academic traditions of our institution. In preparation for the new academic year, a number of measures have been taken to create favorable conditions for students. Laboratories have been upgraded, while renovation work has been carried out in the canteens and dormitories. I would like to express my gratitude to the Board of Trustees for supporting these projects and to all university employees who contributed to their implementation.
Our university not only promotes quality education and the development of science, but also provides students with opportunities to realize their creative potential. At the same time, every student should have a deep understanding of the legacy of Khoja Akhmed Yassawi and the historical and spiritual significance of Turkistan. Each of you should seek an answer to the question: ‘As a student of Yassawi University, what contribution can I make to Turkistan, the Turkic world, and society as a whole?’ Defining this goal will bring positive changes to your life path. We will always be there for you. Happy New Academic Year! I wish all of you great success on your educational journey,” she said.
The university’s Rector’s Representative, Peyami Battal, also addressed the gathering, saying: “Serving at a university named after Khoja Akhmed Yassawi is a great honor and a tremendous responsibility for us. Therefore, alongside acquiring academic knowledge, I believe it is very important for you to embrace the humanistic and spiritual values embodied in Yasawi’s legacy and to promote these values.”
The Rector’s Representative also noted that students have the opportunity to experience different cultures and build new social connections through the Erasmus and Orhun exchange programs.
Next, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, PhD Aliya Kassymbek, delivered a presentation on the new Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan, highlighting its key changes and priority areas. She explained its socio-political significance, the constitutional rights of citizens, and its role in the further development of the country.
The official part of the Knowledge Day ceremony continued with a festive concert program. The Atameken National Instruments Ensemble, the Bi-Sultan Dance Ensemble, and our talented student vocalists performed on stage, creating a joyful and festive atmosphere for everyone in attendance.
