A MEMORIAL EVENING IN HONOR OF KAZHYBEK BEKBOSSYNOV WAS HELD
Today, our educational institution hosted a commemorative evening dedicated to Kazhybek Bekbossynov, a master of Kazakh traditional song, People’s Artist of Kazakhstan, and holder of the “Kurmet” Order. The traditional singer, who dedicated his life to the motto “Art is my life,” would have turned 80 this year.
The meaningful event was organized by the Department of Performing Arts of the Faculty of Arts, Media and Design. The evening was attended by colleagues who had known the singer personally, his students, as well as faculty members and students.
The main purpose of the event was to promote the life and creative legacy of the artist and to instill the values of national art in the younger generation.
Kazhybek Bekbossynov, who studied under the People’s Artists of Kazakhstan Garifolla Kurmangaliyev and Zhүssipbek Yelebekov, joined our university in 2004 and served with honor until the last days of his life.
The event began with a prayer offered in memory of Kazhybek Bekbossynov, a prominent figure in traditional art. A video dedicated to his life and artistic journey was also presented.
The staff of the Faculty of Arts, Media and Design shared their reflections on the singer’s artistic legacy and his pedagogical contributions, shaped by the school of great masters.
During the event, his first students, Bokenbay Zhumadilla and Ayazbek Rustemov, spoke extensively about Kazhybek Bekbossynov’s significant contribution to Kazakh traditional music, sharing memories of his outstanding performance skills and exemplary life.
Ayazbek Rustemov also donated his books to the university library and the Faculty of Arts, Media and Design.
The program featured performances by students and young artists, who sang “Gul-gul Zhayna” and “Mayranın Atı – Mayra,” and performed the traditional instrumental piece “Balbyrauyn.” The commemorative evening was held in a deeply emotional and inspiring atmosphere.
