FESTIVE CONCERT “A TEACHER IS A GREAT FIGURE” HELD
A festive concert entitled “A Teacher Is a Great Figure” was held at our university. The celebration was organised to mark Higher Education Workers’ Day and the International Day of Older Persons on 1 October, as well as World Teachers’ Day on 5 October.
Opening the festive evening, Rector Zhanar Temirbekova said:
“Dear colleagues and esteemed veterans, beloved students!
Oral tradition contains many legends and stories about teachers. Among them, the example of our revered ancestor Yasawi, who made the teachings of his mentor Arystan Bab a guiding principle throughout his life, serves as an inspiration to us and future generations. The Turkic peoples have maintained this continuity for centuries.
Our veterans and teachers are a priceless treasure, passing the wisdom of the past on to the present and guiding the way towards the future. All the university’s achievements are the result of your dedicated work. I wish you good health and every success. Congratulations on these two wonderful occasions!”
Representative of the Rector Peyami Battal then addressed the audience:
“Our university promotes the spiritual heritage and philosophy of our revered ancestor Yasawi throughout the world and among students from 22 different countries and communities. No other educational institution has such a unique opportunity and responsibility. In this respect, you are truly fortunate. I sincerely congratulate you all on this celebration!”
To mark the special occasion, the university’s leadership honoured a group of faculty and staff members for their contributions to the advancement of education and science and presented them with gifts.
The ceremony continued with a festive concert. Dancers delivered graceful performances, while the Atameken Folk Instrument Ensemble performed traditional kui compositions. Faculty members and talented students sang songs and presented bouquets of flowers to teachers and esteemed veterans.
Thus, the festive concert dedicated to teachers and veterans—those who enrich an entire nation and society with knowledge—was held at a high level.
